Android 4.0 ICS Update for Galaxy S2 I9100G Start Rolling Out

Today, as we started getting user reports that the I9100G ICS update is already seeding in several countries and will rollout to all the I9100G Galaxy S2 units worldwide. As we know the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100  started getting its Android 4.0 ICS update in March, but the Galaxy S2 I9100G TI OMAP-based  wasn’t that lucky.

You might find there are some slightly different of the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G and I9100. Basically Samsung has blend both the model GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G into the market and treated it as Samsung Galaxy S2 but you may find that some of the users commented that both are not the same and there are performance differences when you run some resources crunching app/ games and custom ROM.

Poor battery life.
Fully run at 1.2 GHz CPU.
So far no apps/ games compatibility issue reported.
Better 3D performance.
Lot of custom firmware, kernel, modification, tweaks.
Perform better and less lag while browsing the Internet and score better when opening apps/multi tasking.

CPU capped at 1008 MHz.
Might have more apps/ games compatibility issue.

Poorer 3D performance.
Not much custom firmware / modification.

It’s good to know that Samsung hasn’t forgotten all about the less popular versions of the extremely popular Galaxy S2 and is deliver their due ICS servings.
