The latest version for Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 firmware, code name as Android 2.3.6 XWJW1 Gingerbread ,  has the latest Darky’s 10.4 custom ROM which is known for its good performance as well as battery life. Before Android 4.0 ICS, darky was my always my favorite ROM!

Here is instruction on how to manually flash  XWJW1 Gingerbread 2.3.6 for Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.

Step 1: Download XWJW1 Firmware package (Link)

Download Odin.

Step 2: Turn off your phone and enter in to the download mode.

Step 3: Open Odin on PC and then connect Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 to PC via USB Cable. Yellow Bar appear on Odin mean that all the drivers are successfully installed.

Step 4: Now, click on the and select file on Odin bracket as,

PDA – CODE_I9000XWJW1_CL788890_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5

Step 5: Now, click on “Start” option to start the process of firmware update.

Step 6: That All.
